Working late on investigation paperwork, always a pain for me when night falls.  I always get shanghaied into finishing my divisions report, for whatever reason my contractor has, as it turns out there is always a good reason he does this.  The one they call Contractor-0 – stays in the field longer than any other investigator, which is why our budget is also top notch.  Our field of investigation is massive machinery purchases, and our job is to guarantee that our clients are selling their good to trusted individuals and groups.

From time to time we receive intel from our shadows out there that suspicious transactions have occurred and we need to look into them.  Across the five planets Korsika does its business with Zal’Torian, it is its largest market.  A large planet, with dry, hot and metal rich surface, several companies import large and robust machinery to handle mining tasks.  However, this latest purchase, one for sever Gozanka Behemoth series crawlers were sent to Zal’Torian and the merchant group received double the sale price, which is a red flag in and of itself.  While the seller isn’t complaining about the profits, he was a tad concerned as to who was receiving the merchandise, so my contractor sent me to Zal’Torian to gather insight as to what my transpiring.

Contractor-0 even sent me a C3 load out for the mission which came with a stealth battle suit and a thousand rounds of small armistice, only I hoped to not have to use any of it.  Nonetheless, we knew where the Gozankas were at but nothing on who bought them, but I would know all there is to know after this mission.  From my perch atop a building on the outskirts of town, I could see three battle crawlers, each one being loaded with shipping containers going in and black box containers coming out the other side.  This looks like a mass production protocol.  Time for me to get in close to see what they’re making.

After a lengthy walk with my stealth gear activated, I came face to face with the front of a Gozanka, and what a sight to behold.  The dimensions are fifty feet from ground to underbelly, the treads are fifty feet in total width between outer edges.  The entire machine was five hundred feet long and in total two hundred feet tall.  A large behemoth to say the least.  Even looking at its picture left no indication of its true size.  No wonder they cost a hundred million gilders to make each.

Seeing the vent shaft above me, I throw my wire chain up to hook onto the latch.  It really was no trouble getting inside, but the smell of the Argolite fuel exhaust was enough to make me a bit nauseous.  It took me a moment to get my senses back, then I crawled my way to the receiving bay towards the back of the crawler.  The smell of mass assembly welders was thick, so much K2-solder being used and as I lay eyes where it was being used, I saw something that made my heart stop.  They were building war machines in here, using the supplies from the incoming shipping containers.

Before I could get caught, I fell back into the vent and climbed up higher.  Here are the crew and training quarters, the people here were decked out in full military gear wearing what looks like a bladed crest of lightning.  I know these guys from the news, a militant force trying to establish their independence from the country that captured and subjugated them two hundred years ago.  Independence is fine and all, but if terrorism and genocide are the only ways you can get it, that is going too far.  The decision was made, put a stop to this and save the world!
